Description
Caracal Lodge offers self-catering luxury accommodation situated in the beautiful valley of Houtboshoek in Mpumalanga, only 48 km from Nelspruit and 100 km from the Kruger National Park. Caracal Lodge is a 300-hectare game farm comprising four luxury cottages.
The lodge offers various options of luxury accommodation, each with its own special features aimed at lovers of nature and wildlife. Figtree Lodge and Magtree Lodge are bush cottages for couples lit by gas and lamplight, with full self-catering facilities, while Kudu and Nyala Cottages are two-bedroom cottages, each with electricity and all amenities for self-catering.
We are situated in a beautiful valley with 360-degree views. The lodge is surrounded by beautiful grassy mountains, home to the mountain reedbuck, grey rhebuck, oribi and bushbuck, which occur naturally in the area. 300 hectares of unspoilt nature is home to the various species of game that have been introduced, including impala, livingstone eland, zebra, waterbuck, nyala, kudu, blue wildebeest, and giraffe. The shy Red duiker is often seen furtively feeding off the lawns of our two luxury bush lodges.
Take a hike or 4x4 drive around the ranch and enjoy the breathtaking views of the beautiful valley and view game at the same time. A babbling brook with crystal clear mountain water feeds the spectacular waterfall where you can enjoy a picnic, sundowner or a splash under the shade of the forest that surrounds it.

Self-catering lodge sleeping two people, comprising an open-plan double bedroom, a full bathroom, outdoor shower, dining area, kitchen with a gas stove and all utensils, verandah, and barbecue facilities. Figtree Lodge is lit by lamp light, giving a romantic atmosphere.

Kudu Cottage (1 unit)
Luxury two-bedroom cottage located close to the main lodge comprising a bathroom, lounge, open-plan kitchen, outdoor shower, and a patio. The cottage also features a private stone boma for barbecues and open-air cooking.

Magtree Lodge (1 unit)
Luxury thatch rondavel built on an old ruin under a huge wild Fig tree providing shade in the heat of summer. The unit comprises an open-plan double bedroom with a daybed, a bathroom with shower, and a fully equipped kitchen. Enjoy a book or a barbecue in the stone boma. Magtree is only a five-minute walk from a beautiful waterfall and picnic spot.
